FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does it work?

Thirsty Dice is Philadelphia’s original board game cafe. We are a full service restaurant and bar with over 900 games in our game library. From classics to new releases, our gametenders are here to help.

If you are indulging in our game library, there is a $7 charge per person for two hours of access Friday through Sunday (unlimited on weekdays!) to ensure that our gametenders maintain and update our collection. Our staff can get you right into playing and spending less time reading rules. Looking to play games for longer than two hours or just coming in for a bite to eat? Let our staff know.

What games do you have?

With over 950 games, you are sure to find something you will love. You can grab something off the shelf and get your game on, or if you’d prefer our gametenders can make a recommendation or even teach you a new game.

Do you have food?

Yes! We offer a wide range of food options to fuel your game playing from easily shareable bites like fries and hummus to more filling meals including sandwiches and pizzas on our house-made crust. You can view our most current menu offerings online. For dessert, you can enjoy a wide-range of ice cream and milkshake options made with the very best ice cream flavors and your choice of sundae toppings from Philadelphia’s own Bassetts.

We also offer brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. which features a wide range of options. You can view our most recent brunch menu online.

What time is your kitchen open?

Thirsty Dice serves food from the time we open until one hour before close each day. Hours are subject to change.

Do you offer vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options?

Yes! All players are welcomed at Thirsty Dice, including those with dietary restrictions. We do our best to offer a number of exciting options for guests with a wide range of allergies and restrictions and note our vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options with icons on our menu.

Please alert your server of any allergies before ordering so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

Please note: Thirsty Dice does not use peanut oil in our fryer, but we do have some items containing peanuts in our ice cream shop.

Are you family friendly?

Families love Thirsty Dice. We welcome and provide games for kids of all ages during any hour we are open, though we do ask that guests 12 and under are supervised by adults. We offer a limited kids menu but find that kids also enjoy ordering off our regular menu too.

Are dogs allowed?

We love our furry friends at Thirsty Dice. However, due to Pennsylvania Health Code, only service animals may join us inside. Dogs are allowed at our outside streetery tables.

Are reservations required?

Reservations are highly recommended to ensure you will have a table ready when you arrive and are essential during peak times. Reservations can be made for a two-hour block for up to 12 people. We request that all members of the party be present in order to be sat, ensuring equal fun and gameplay for the whole group. Reservations will not be held past 15 minutes of their scheduled time. You can make reservations online through Tock

A deposit of one 2 hour library pass ($7) per person is required for parties of 7 or more. This deposit will be applied to the bill upon seating. Please let us know by 3pm the day of your reservation or 10am for brunch if you need to cancel. For reservations cancelled without proper notice the deposit will be considered non-refundable.

Parties arriving with more guests than reserved will be charged a 22% service charge and we cannot guarantee you will be seated together.

During peak times, reservations may only be held for up to 15 minutes past the designated time to make sure we have adequate seating for all of our customers.

Parties larger than 12 please contact Our Event Sales department for more information.

If there are no tables available online at the time you are looking for, it means we may be booked at that time, please try looking at another time.

What if I have a larger group?

The majority of our tables are set up to accommodate parties of 2 to 6 people, which is ideal for game play. We can accommodate groups of up to 11 through our Tock reservation system, as space allows on any given day. Please note that a 20% gratuity will be added to parties of 7 or more.

For larger groups of 12 or more, we recommend looking into one of our private event packages. If a group arrives larger than its noted reservation, we may not be able to accommodate the guests exceeding those noted in the reservation.

I don’t see any reservations available online on the day/time I want. Can I just walk-in?

If there are no reservations available online, it either means we are closed (Monday, holidays, or other day of rest for our staff), hosting a private or ticketed event, or all of the tables for that day and time are all booked up. We will post on our social media when we are closed outside of our regular hours.

If space is available, we are happy to accommodate walk-in guests.

Can I rent your space for a private party?

Yes! We offer packages for groups of 12 or more. In order to properly prepare for service, contracts for groups must be in place at least 48 hours in advance, with ideal planning taking place a minimum of two weeks prior to an event. If you would like to book a private party or corporate event, we’d love to work with you — just reach out via our contact form.
